Parent Code of Conduct
All parents sign the Code of Conduct as part of the registration process.
The Sierra County Swim Team and TorC Tiger Shark Swim Team are a youth serving, community-based group dedicated to providing a fun, enriching, competitive swim season. The purpose of this code of conduct is to ensure that every swimmer is provided the opportunity to reach their individual goals while contributing to the team.
The conduct of parents, family members, and their guests at swim team events will support every swimmer’s ability to learn and the coach’s ability to teach.
Parents, family members and their guests should be committed to supporting swimmer’s learning and fun.
Basic Parent / Guardian Responsibilities:
- Encourage swimmers to swim for the fun of it, not just to win or please parents or coaches.
- Support swimmers in being punctual for ALL practices and meets. The coach’s times is very valuable, and the time the pool is available is limited.
- Summer: Plan to arrange for your swimmer to attend mandatory meets unless they make prior arrangement with the coach.
- Summer: Support swimmers to wear the team swim suits and team caps at meets. This displays team spirit and makes it easier to identify swimmers on the block and in the water.
- Support your swimmer in adhering to the Swimmer’s Code of Conduct. If clarification is needed, inquire with a board member or coach.
- Support a positive and productive atmosphere for swimmers and agree not to disrupt practices or meets.
- PARENTS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGING TRANSPORTATION TO MEETS.
Conduct Required of ALL Parents, Guardians, Family Members and their Guests:
- Remember that at practice, during swim meets, and in public, you represent the team with excellence, team spirit, good sportsmanship and politeness.
- Follow the directions of any member of the coaching staff, lifeguards, and board members.
- Use appropriate language and behavior. The use of profane or abusive language or obscene gestures is not tolerated.
- Lack of courtesy or rudeness, verbal, physical, or visual harassment, fighting, or intentional touching, actual or threatened violence of a swimmer, coach, parent or volunteers will not be tolerated.
- Respect others property. Vandalism, intentional damage or theft of property will not be tolerated.
- Keep yourself and others safe and healthy. Possession or use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs at swim team activities is prohibited. Possession of unauthorized items (explosives, firearms, or weapons of any kind) is prohibited and law enforcement will be notified.
Violation of the Parent / Guardian Code of Conduct:
- 1.You or your guest will be asked to leave practice, swim meet or swim team activity.
- 2.Will be suspended from attending practices, swim meets and or events until the grievance policy has been followed and appropriate actions have been implemented.
- 3.Violation(s) may result in a suspension from team activities for the remainder of the swim year and/or a specific period determined by the board.
- 4.Violation(s) may result in the swimmer being suspended or dismissed from the team for the season.
